goodmans crt	Can't Post

I recently got given an old tv but the problem i have is when i switch it on it it goes auto to standby then if i press a button to select channel it seems to attempt to turn on the it cuts off back to stand by, can anyone please help me understand what the problem is?

goodmans tv 's were grey imports from wherever. without a model number I cant help you further. It could be Daewoo or Vestel Turkish chassis or Formenti italian chassis inside.

check horizontal out transistor for short circuit.also check east/west diodes for short circuit and all secondary diodes on the power supply
