Take the back off of your TV & in a dark room look to see if you can see the back lights glowing (they will be white). You'll be able to see them through cracks & holes in the metal back that the LCD panel is mounted in. You may have to be in a completely dark room to know for sure. Once you see that the back lights are on, watch the TV until the pictures goes out & check then to see if the back lights are still on or if they have shut off.
