phillips 60PP9202 Can't Post

Hi, I posted this on the other forum but see that there are more responses here and really need some advice, here goes

HELP Philips 60PP9202 Edit | Delete | Quote | Reply
Weve had our tv less than a year and a half, the other day all of a sudden at the top left corner and the bottom of the tv there was red and blue shadowing especially around lettering, such as fox news.

Tv is out of warranty except for cathode tube and clearvu lens.

Called philips and they told me to adjust multi red with remote. I lined up some crosses but about 12 wouldn't. Called philips back and told to unplug tv for ten minutes and restart holding button in 5 seconds, didnt help.

Anyway was referred to a local service center that repairs philips and they sent a subcontractor yesterday who came in complaining he was sick, didn't take his antiobiotic etc. He goes into service mode with remote and tries to adjust mutired and he also couldnt do it.

so he tells me he must put two parts in that would cost eighty dollars plus cost of visit etc.

He unscrews back of tv, and solders something, then proceeds to try and lay the board inside the tv down t work on it, he had trouble so he was banging it up and down, sideways etc.

He then installs two parts (don't know the names of them, I'm tv illiterate) and then goes infront of tv, turns it on goes to multired in service mode again and the lines were way worse then before the parts put in.

He starts adjusting the lines and within ten seconds there is a pop in the tv, the screen goes blank and we could smell something burning in the back of the set.

Now before he puts these part in he tells me it could be just a loose yolk? But then says no.

So he calls the repair shop and tells them what happened and says maybe the new parts were bad, or maybe it is the yoke.

He tells them he has no more of the parts needed, so the repair shop tells him that the tv must be picked up by one of there trucks and brought in for repair.

I call the shop and they say there must be something else wrong and I should get a call within a week to see whats wrong and decide what I want to do.

This was supposed to be a total charge for parts of eighty dollars, now I have NO idea what they say what is wrong.

Before this guy showed up to work on it my son and i were watching golf, and the picture was great except like i said the very bottom and upper left.

What could have gone wrong here? Could it be from him banging the insides around so much, did he do something wrong for the whole set to shut down, and what could have happened to make something burn inside.

sorry this is so long but I expected better in and eighteen hundred dollar set, and i expected a "technician " to know what he was doing. HELP.

What rights do i have knowing he must of done something terrible wrong.

Pam
