rca f38310jx4 Can't Post

I bought this tv for 20 dollars but wasn't able to check its working condition before. I was told that it did work. I did not come on when I tried it afterward. I removed the back and found the 6A fuse blown. When I tried it after it made a popping sound with electical arc on the main board and blew the fuse. I removed the main board and upon inspecting it I found q14601 transistor blown as well as r14604 (15ohm 1/2w flameproof resistor). I consulted the web and found this to be a common problem with seven components listed to check or replace. I decide to go ahead and just replace them all. However I am having a difficult time crossing over the transistors from rca numbers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Position RCA part # Crossed
q14601 201152 ??????NTE3n60????????
q14603 232218 ?????NTE287??????????
cr14613 236168 12v Zener Diode 1.3w 1n4742a-tap
cr14615 227887 5.1v Zener Diode 1.3w 1n4733a-tap
cr14611 227066 Fast Recovery Diode 1A 200v mur120g
r14604 241313 15ohm 1/2w flameproof resistor
r14606 215212 3ohm 3w resistor
I can't find the a good cross for the transistors and I would rather be sure. The transistors are to burned to read so no luck there. Thanks

How about;=>....
http://www.ebay.com/...201152-/350457153800
That one looks to be an exact replacement...
PM this seller because he has only 3 listed as available , yet he sold 6 ...
His seller rating is high (99.9%) , so he should be VERY trustworthy...
$4.99 & FREE shipping !!!

I crossed this q14601 201152 ??????NTE3n60???????? to NTE 2387 here;=>...
http://nte01.nteinc.com/...sf/$$Search?OpenForm
Scroll down a bit & enter MTP3N60 in the search box & you'll come up with the NTE replacement number...

As for , q14603 232218 ?????NTE287?????????? , I could not find the generic number...
IF you Google;=>..."RCA 232218" you'll get about 8,280 listings...
There are some that have the part for ~$5.00....
Your choice & call...

Hope this helps....

Have a GREAT day & week....Sly...

Re: [ld762n] rca f38310jx4 [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok I finally received all the parts and put them in. Good news is the fuse doesn't blow. Bad news is the set still doesn't start. The power button lights green I can see the red light within the digital audio jack on I can even see a red led within the tuner tin can flashing. I do hear a sound like an arc six times fast stop six times fast over and over. The red led in the tuner will flash to this sequence. No HV so I'm sure it's still in the power supply but not sure what to check and with my "advanced diagnostic tool supply", a dmm, its getting fun. Any suggestions what to check from here. Where should I check for my voltages on this set? Thanks

Did NOT find one...Unsure...

This goes to Just Answer TV...
For your exact TV...& maybe the same problem ...
Scroll down about half way to get some free help that someone else most likely paid for...

( EDIT:.... Deleted link that went south...) ..Sorry....Unsure....

GOOD LUCK....Sly....

Re: [Ron.M] rca f38310jx4 [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for the reply. The link is dead though. Still having fun with it. I think I need to find and make sure all of my standby voltages are ok. I'm thinking that one of them is not correct or missing. Kind of a more complicated tv with the DM1 and secondary power supply to it. Has me wondering if the caps on the DM1 are shot. I've read of them causing a problem. Not sure but I don't think this tv will come on without the DM1 and DM1 power supply in working order. So two power supplies to trouble shoot with no schematic lol. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know the standby voltages on this unit. The values and places to check would be greatly appreciated. Also can anyone point me in the right direction to pick up the schematics for the f38310jx4/DTV306?

Ron;
I agree. You're posting dead links too early. Halloween is next week.

jts1957 & ld762n;....

It was a live & valid link when I posted it...
I checked it out with "Preview Post"....
Even checked it in the thread after I posted it...
Worked perfect ....
It had to go off it's trolley in the meantime....
I had a feeling that I should have copied & pasted the article at the time , but , it was rather lengthy...
Some of it had to do with arcing in the CRT socket focus pins...
You might want to take a looksee there...

Live & loin....Unsure....

GOOD LUCK.....Sly.....

Re: [Ron.M] rca f38310jx4 [In reply to] Can't Post

Many thanks for the complete schematics and all help. I went to the test points off the t14600 transformer. TP14107 5v Standby, TP14108 33v Standby, and TP109 -12v Standby. All of the voltages are floating around a bit. TP14107 is from 0 to 4.8v, TP108 is from 33 to 36v and TP14108 is from -10 to -12v. All of them have diodes off of the transformers and I was debating desoldering a leg on each to see if the voltages stabilized. Good idea on this or any other suggestions ty....

Q14602 was checked?

Sounds like PS is cycling on/off.

Check: CR14129; Q14451

Re: [jts1957] rca f38310jx4 [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok I'm checking q14602. Should I remove it completely? I'm checking with a dmm. However r14603 has me confused. On the schematics it is showing a 3300 ohm resistor. In the parts list a 1k. The color code is 1k and the resistance is 990 ohm. I'm assuming, lol, that it should be a 1k and the schematic is wrong. Correct?

I usually remove completely.

Schematic may not show all variants for the various chassis / screen sizes, etc. I'd go with what is installed originally.

q14602 is looking good. However when I check, by dmm method, q14601 (fet transistor) seems to have a 15 ohm connect gate to source. Also I found cr14615, zener diode, acted like a regular diode with no break down.
