changing this component is easy if you have basic soldering skills,
but I would not rule out further problems with the lamps,
here is a link for the 40" version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrD1d-a2fnA
this shows work on the power supply

Well , you did it again....
I wasted 9 mins & 18 secs on a video that has NO bearing on "teapot's" problem !!!!!...NONE !!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrD1d-a2fnA
The video is NOT clear , out of focus...
The audio is impossible to understand what the guy is saying , even the closed captions are screwed up...
It does NOT give ANY help on how to solder....
It does NOT give ANY help on how to fix his TV !!!!!
TOTALLY IRRELEVANT !!!
Wasted time & effort...
Once again you TOTALLY missed the mark...

I will agree with you on this ONLY:=>>...
"" changing this component is easy if you have basic soldering skills,"""

Other than that , you screwed up again...

Transformers do NOT hold a charge...
Capacitors can & do...

As for your replacing the part yourself;....
How much electronic/TV repair background experience do you have ????
Do you have any soldering experience ???
If you need help soldering , I can provide you with some videos to help you learn...

Start here;=>...

IMHO , I'd guess that that burn mark indicates a bad transformer & since you said they are cheap , what have you to lose but a small amount of cash & some time....

Go for it...Wink...

GOOD LUCK....Smile..Smile...Smile...

At least I know that a 12 volt zener can NOT regulate at 5 VOLTS !!!! ...

I also probably forgot MORE than you'll ever learn about electronics...

IF you had NOT posted an irrelevant poor quality video , I would NOT have commented !!!!..
Had you posted a video that WAS relevant to teapot's problem , I would have NOT commented !!!...
So much for YOU wasting YOUR time ...
What about the others here that may also have wasted their time watching that video ???...

"I know nothing," about why my copy of your copy of link doesn't work.

I did refer to the fact that the query you posed (as posted) produced no results.Tongue

    HUUUHHHhhh !!!
I can't find that in any of my posts !!!
    Only on "Google"...
& , yes , it was an ad , which isn't there today...
IF you clicked on it you'd get sites that would help...
I can't do everything for OPs...
If teapot needs further help , I'm sure he'd post...
The link I gave was & is a starting point...
Certainly MORE helpful than that ridiculous video !!!!...

    Have a GREAT weekend....Sly...
