screen replacement,help please Can't Post

I have a RCA 56" rear projection that has damaged screens all three screens need replacing. I am looking at buying a Phillips 61" rear projection set that does not work but has perfect condition screens for $150. Can i cut the 61" screens to fit the 56" set? they are both the same format sets.Or will i need to get 56" screens? Will screens from different sets work on others as long as all screens are replaced as a set (together),or does it have to be from the same make and model set.If someone knows for sure please let me know so i dont shell out bucks for something that may not work out.Crazy
Much Thanks..

Wel, I never tried it but, My advise is stick with the same, you never know what might happen trying to cut a larger size, it could split or crack or chip, then your out a lot of cash and left eith the same problem.

RCA model#P56926-Okay besides possibly cracking the donor screens while cutting them, will screens from other manufactures work on this set as long as all screens are replaced together and of the same format?

they should be ok,but make sure you know which is the lenticular and which is the fresnel screen, and they only go one way round so best to mark the corners

you could likely go to repair shops and buy used ones for a lot least than $150 I know I have plenty in my shop

I have call around a total of 7 shops in my area and the cheapest i found was $200.One thing that is worring me is that some say yes you can cut down screens and it will work fine but others say no. Now i am not sure what to do,i dont want to just throw money away for something that will not work out.Can i cut them down to size and it work fine or not?

Yam, do what techchris said, he know's more about this then me, when I was in the business my shop never used "used screens" we always went new, but what Im saying is be careful not to damage the 61" screen that your going to cut. Good luck with it and I hope it works for you!

Shadetree, yeah these are used.Like i said i am being quoted 400-600 new and the cheapest i have found is $200 for the fresnel and lenticular screens.I found a 61" phillips across town about 1 and a half hrs away for $150 but i would have to load it haul it back home just for the screens so i will just pay the $200 for just the screens from a shop just 15 mins. away..unless you happen to be located in the Tampa Florida area. HA HA ..Thanks
