sharp CV2133IR Can't Post

hi,
this set won't display teletext, it displays the time taken from the teletext but not the teletext itself, anyone know why this is?

probably the character generator ic faulty. from memory its a big chip starting SAA..... but its a long time since I saw one of these so this is my best guess.

Ive got that chassis as an 8PSR Now I dont have that model in my records but I have a fault as R1049 33K feeding the character generatorin that chassis. Worries me the clock still works but its worth a look as that was a Sharp data fault. I am not in the same area so dont take the value as gospel, it may differ.

yes its the 8PSR chassis, when i got the set the text board was not in it, so i took a text board from my other sharp tv using the same chassis, the clock works and the channel info is diplayed at the bottom of the screen, the teletext just won't display at all, i checked all ic's on the text board and there fine. and as far as i know the text was working fine in my other tv (CV2134IR). so i don't know why its not working.

Ok then now we all know your issue. The micro does not know you have text so its not switched on. Most times you fit text there is an installition process which will be used to tell the micro. I dont know this one but for example with Philips you entered service mode and added (from memory) 11 otherwise you get exactly what you are getting. You have no fault, dont look for one.

Re: [rrobor] sharp CV2133IR [In reply to] Can't Post

ok, but then how come the clock is working and station text working. i have a service manual for this set and according to the manual there is a 33k resistor r1083 feeting pin 5 of the micro which is the text, but when i looked at the board in the tv itself i couln't find the locating number. also when the majority of the screen is covered with a white image, the screen becomes distorted and blurry, why is that happening.

has this all happened since you fitted the text board from the other tv? also did the tv have text before you got it or not? it may be the same chassis but possibly if it was a non text version there may be other components left out during manufacture.

Yes I looked at my schematic and realised it was a very old set so it probably is not a checksum issue. Before that there was always some form of switching device needed. As you say a resistor or a diode or a link to be removed. On my manual I found nothing about text so sorry cant help, but if you have the other set, compare both. L

yes i think i need to add this resistor to the board but as i said i couldn'l find the location number on the board itself, i will compare both of the chassis together and see for any differences, but it doesn't explain how the picture becomes distorted when a white image is displayed, its quite annoying.
