snap and black

I have a PICTURETEL 34" display monitor. When I fire it up it runs great for about 3 minutes then there is a snap and the picture goes black. if i shut it off and turn it back on the same thing happens. The snap I hear when it goes black is the same as i hear when I turn it on.
