sony 29" trinitron Can't Post

hello
couple of water drops entered the tv from the ventilation holes, and it turned off instantly. only after couple of minutes i could turn it on again, but the image is goneFrown. i thought it will be sorted out once the water dried out, but more than a week passed.
is there a point in paying a technician, or is it dead now?
thx

Can you provide us with a model number & chassis number of your Sony? Do you still have audio?

erantomer;.....

Since you are going to have to open the set up & work on it , PLEASE answer the following;=>...
How much electronic/TV repair background experience do you have ????
Do you have any desoldering/soldering skills ????
Did you smell ANYTHING out of the ordinary ????
Did you hear ANYTHING strange like possibly glass cracking/breaking or a hissing noise ???

BTW: Your chassis number is; FE-1A...

PLEASE answer ALL my questions...THANKS...Sly....

Re: [Ron.M] sony 29" trinitron [In reply to] Can't Post

of course i will not do it myself, i will call a technician if you say there's hope for it.
i did smell something burnt in the beginning, and when i managed to turn it on again i saw on the screen something like a green spot that faded away and that's the last image it had...
and the red bulb in the bottom is flashing every couple of seconds, i don't think i did it before.
thx

erantomer;....

Coming back to this;...

Quote
is there a point in paying a technician, or is it dead now?

Of course , I am NOT a Psychic & (as jts1957 would say) my Crystal Ball is in for repairs...Unsure...

That also relates to;...

Quote
of course i will not do it myself, i will call a technician if you say there's hope for it.

Of course , there's hope for anything (I think !! ) ....
But IS it cost effective ???
Your TV was made in 1999 or thereabouts...
That makes it about 12 years old & just starting puberty...(OR already in it)
Since you WILL have to pay somebody to fix it , it IS your call...
NO one that I know here is willing to stick their neck out & say "Fix it"...

That set has already OUTLASTED its life expectency...
See if you can get a "Free Estimate" from your local TV shop....
Find one that's trustworthy & honest....
If they give you a "reasonable price & WILL warranty their work , the choice is yours to make...
Since you smelled something burning when it went out , I don't have much hope for it's survival....

Good Luck.....Sly.....

Have a GREAT day & week...Sly....

Re: [erantomer] sony 29" trinitron [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi guys,
I just bought a service manual for my LCD SONY KLV-26S550A from: www.manualsparadise.com
They delivered in less than 20 minutes, the price was fair, and their service was really good compared to other sites where I have bought manuals in the past. And, they seem to have a huge collection of manuals!
Recommended.

Service manual for the one your mentioning, (EX2T Chassis LCD TV) AND the service manual for erantomer's (FE1A Chassis CRT TV) are both available at Ele...Tanya for FREE with immediate download.

You are aware that CRT and LCD are two incompatible display technologies?

A person not wanting to lose his funds might want to Google: "company scam" ("manualsparadise scam") before placing any orders.
