vivitek bulb question

I have a vivitek RP51HD41-A tv that will run for about 10 minutes then the color starts getting splotchy, the screen flickers and then it shuts off. I can turn it off for a few minutes, turn it back on and it does good for about 10 minutes and then the same thing happens.Could this be that the bulb needs replaced or is it something else? The tv is about 5 years old and i just bought it used so i don't know when the bulb was replaced last. Any help would be grateful....thanks
