won't power up Can't Post

hi. i have a 36" sony trinitron, conventional picture tube. Model #KV-36FV1
it stopped working on me the other night. i tried turning it on, sounded like the usual buzz/beep it makes when turning it on, but nothing happened. tried again to turn it on, both with the remote and on the tv itself, nothing. checked the outlet, it's fine. just no response from the tv.
didn't see any problems with it prior to this. Picture was fine, everything fine the night before. i got it from a friend who was moving, it's 13 years old. worked fine and strong up til now. i'm not eager to take it somewhere to be looked at, as it weighs about 300lbs. and any expensive fix would be better spent towards a new one. any ideas?

First place to check is the line fuse. It should be located somewhere near where the line cord is connected to the board.

when you say "line" do you mean the Power line (cable)?

The power cord. The one that plugs into the wall socket. The last one of these that I had in the shop had a bad flyback transformer which in turn blew the fuse.

The drive can be attached to another laptop or desktop as an external drive. It can then be formatted. Keep in mind that formatting does not clear all the information, overwriting it multiple times with garbage does a much better job. Find someone else with the same laptop and swap batteries long enough to charge yours, then run a program to wipe the drive.

He must have been up all night partying and ingested too much mind-altering substances.

Although with that brain, he'd better see a head shrinker (just to keep from losing those few screws). Crazy
