this could be vertical or horizontal shutdown. look closely at the pcb with the large high voltage transformer on it, this prob. holds both circuits also
i have seen this cause a few dif. symptoms: At power on check for 12-volts DC at the connector KH pin 8, if missing check IC9C51 part # 270P990010 and L9C52 part # 441D009020 on the Signal PCB.do you hear with the back off a rush of static when it clicks on and then off?

good luck

blue screen is a good start. does the menu look ok or is it too blue? is the input 1 on the screen yellow in color? do you have cable/satalite?you have to hold down input and menu on the front of the tv after it "shuts down" by itself for 8 sec. or so and it will flash a 2 digit code(i.e. blink blink, blink pause, blink, blink pause blink, blink, blinkpause ,blink blink pause repeating over and over , would be 3-2)

No menu is ok, you see the yellow fonts. I think the tv just shuts off because it's not getting any signal since its not plugged into anything. But I do have a dvd player plugged into input 1 just to see if anything happens. One another note S-Video 3 for some strange reason blinks? I did what you asked, shut the tv off and held down input and menu at the same time and it blinked but I did not see a code. Did I have to turn the tv on to see this code?

don't worry about the code.
it just sounds like something is not hooked up correct. take the dvd player you are using out of where it is at or get another dvd player or vcr with yellow red and white and hook them up in the front input, go to that input and turn her on and see what happens?

You are correct, again when I switch the inputs I see that S-Video 3 is the only one that flashes all the other stay the same. Odd isnt it? And when I connect the UVERSE samething, nothing just the blue screens and when you switch around it says input 1, input 2, etc.

yes , odd.
have you looked at the pcb(signal )for any possible glycol pooling on the pcb , and currosion . it's just an unusual symptom, iwould look close. try the PIP, see wht that does.

I'm not sure what you mean. I wonder if I take pictures of what I see and post them maybe that would help?
