Have you tried a good manual cleaning? Also you can just try running a blank tape all the way through, from begining to the end, sometimes that cleans the head and drivers.. Hope that HELPS and Good Luck SantasGirl

I have worked hard on this issue, we have over 850 of these in use. Sayno src-800/src-850. So far I have found the problem to be in the motherboard! When the unit gets around 2yrs. of 24/7 use, or 15,000 to 20,000 hrs of record. You will get a color band on playback of Re-Recorded tapes. First records on new or demagnitezed tapes will be clear. I have swapped out the complete chasy unit with and New vcr, the problem stayed with the orig. one. Atemped adjusting vr111 "no change". The only answer I can give at this time, Erase the tapes for re-recording. *NOTE- Removing the video head and cleanind the coils of oil and flux will help clear up some grainy/noise in video. Hope this helps, maybe someone can go with it from here.

The Answer is IN. Worked with Sanyo, They founr the Problem, on the main board you need to replace two Caps #2071 & #2072. these are 47uF / 6.3v Caps. They are located on the board in-front of the Power Supplie, (under Chas). I changed out these caps and now have 20+ vcr's back in operation, Enjoy

most probably the manufacturers are using cheap components to keep costs down-capacitor failure is common in most items after a while
