Hitachi TV Picture Can't Post

We have recently replaced the lamp in our Hitachi model 55VS69A TV.
It ran fine for a day & then we turned it on & few minutes later the picture went black. The power button was still lit & the temperature & lamp light were flashing.
We thought the lamp was blown again so we turned it off. We waited a few minutes, turned it back on & the picture came back on again. A few minutes later again the picture went black. Same lights were on.
Through both attempts the fan was always running.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
thumpp

Are you sure you reassembled it correctly? Pay particular attention to any "safety" switches. Switches that have to be engaged properly for set to turn on, I've seen a couple where the switch was bent out of position, etc.Cool

It sounds like you have a defective lamp. I just replaced one for a customer this week that was having the exact same problem. His lamp was new (less than a month old; didn't purchase it from me) I tested his lamp in another set and it too would run for a few minutes then went off, I replaced lamp with a new one and problem was solved.

If you need replacement lamps I have them available for most sets for $175 CND funds (plus shipping).

Feel free to email me direct if you (or anyone) need lamps. You can find my email address in my profile section (Just click on my user name for profile)

Hi,

Safety switches, etc., are OK or TV won't start at all. Most likely lamp is faulty or not the correct replacement bulb.

Many suppliers have minimal replacement choices and send out bulb that fits mechanically and not the correct specs for your TV. Result is Early failure or Intermittent operation. Faulty bulbs from reliable sources are extremely rare. If multiple returns of one type of bulb are encountered, complete lot is returned to manufacturer.

Shopping cart operations that sell everything from umbrellas to electronic parts typically buy rejected job lots of goods that did not meet specs or were damaged in shipping. Dropping a forklift load of bulbs will internally damage most of them. Shopping cart boys don't care. Return, etc., is more trouble for consumer than the cost of the bulb.

Check this out for Lamps. http://calgary.convergencerepair.com/lamps.asp
