telestereo;..... Disconnect connector #1516 at the front end of the LSB panel OR on the SSM panel... Look for a large finned heat sink that has 2 large ICs on it... That is the SSM panel... Right to the edge of that board near the heat sink is connector #1516 also... IF memory serves , they should be toward the front of the set on the boards... When you unplug that connector , turn the TV on.... IF the set stays on , you have either a shorted audio output IC OR bad convergence ICs... Most likely , it's bad convergence ICs... IF you still hear crackling , you may have a serious HV problem.... Good Luck..... ..... Later....Ron.M.... .... Veteran & Retired TV technician
