1080p resolution Can't Post

Is it worth spending any extra money for 1080p resolution? I've read that cable tv isn't even broadcast in 1080p, so why get it? Is the picture that much sharper than 720p? Thanks for your help...

From everything I have read - 1080p is better PQ on sets 56" and larger.
The set upconvets the incomming signal to 1080p.
With new HD DVD players you might want a 1080p set.If you big into Dvds.
A 1080p set will have better resale value if you plan on upgrading ( getting a bigger screen size ) in the future.
If you are getting a 50" or smaller, you could go with the 720p sets.
But the final choice should be on how the picture on the tv looks to you.

Hi Tank,
If a person got a 42" and forced by room dimentions to sit close to the tv, would the extra resolution of the 1080p then be noticeable?
P.S. Thanks for the info about taking DTV on vacation.Wink

Yes it is better but is it worth the extra money ?

If you have or plan on using a HD DVD player than it worth it, but if you are just watching HD from sat or cable it comes down to how much you want to spend.

If you get a 1080p set , you good for a long long time. If you get a 720p set , will want to upgrade in a year or two because of the new hd dvd players?
