Panasonic Plasma Can't Post

I was shopping today for a Panasonic 50PX60U and found three stores selling for $1999.99. My dilemma is; should I wait until the 50PX600U arrives in the stores and wait for a reduction in price? Anyone familiar with the 600U? From my research, I cannot find much differences. I did notice cnet rated the 60U at 8.6 and the 600U at 9.2 which should mean the 600U is an improvement. Unfortunately, they didn't do a complete evaluation of the 600U. Thanks in advance.

Maizenbluedoc, I don't want tell you this, but if you beleive a newer model is better than last year's model , just bec. the new model has improved but with a lower price?.. Ok listen, Any electronics with price reductions regardless of the improvements mentioned, when price reduced, is along with engineering cost. Manufacturers will then use short cuts, parallel methods, glass screens reductions, plastic instead of aluminum. These are the hidden reasons manufacturers are force to meet consumer demands concerning prices...You now decide if you let Panasonic 50PX60U pass you by.

The 600U has been out for a couple of months now, and is available in many stores. Hi-Fi Buys has it, Best Buy has it (at the larger stores, it will be in the area with the more expensive displays).

The 60U and 600U are very similar - I debated between the two for awhile. I ended up with the 600, but it depends on if the differences matter to you...

1. Note that the screen itself is the same (same contrast ratio, etc). So picture quality will be equal.
2. 600U has 4 nicer speakers than the 60U's two
3. 600U has a cable card slot
4. 600U has split screen
5. 600U has more inputs

As you can see, it depends on your situation - if you have surround sound and satellite service - the 600U may not be for you (since the speakers, split screen, and cable card will go completely unused).

The 600U is currently 2,500 at Hi-Fi buys.

The 60U, as you mentioned, is currently 2k - don't expect it to go down much more - that is a great deal on a great TV. Also, go buy it at Hi-Fi Buys (or many other stores) and they will promise the price for 30 days - if it goes down in price within 30 days they will give you a refund for that amount.

In the end, I decided to just go for the 600U - no real reason, other than I liked that it had the PC input and split screen (I am on cable).

My 600U was delivered this morning, I look forward to watching the Prison Break Finale on it tonight!

Please let me know if you have any other questions related to these two TVs, I did a good bit of research between the two.

Re: [whitehurst] Panasonic Plasma [In reply to] Can't Post

QUESTION!!
Does the 600U have 2 coaxial inputs? By coaxial I mean the cable that comes from a standard cable box. I was going to buy the 60U yesterday for $1,997, but I really need to of these inputs (one for cable and one for my HD antenna)

-Thanks
Matt
