philips 50PF9431D/37 Can't Post

i have a philips 50PF9431D/37 plasma. i use a home theatre system, so i do not use the speakers on the tv itself. however, even at zero volume on the tv there is a still a static noise that comes out of the speakers. i called phillips and they told me to upgrade the software(which i had already done). they then told me they had no idea what was wrong and to get it serviced. anyone else have this problem? i am tempted to return this tv and get the panasonic th50px6ou. any thoughts? thx!

If you are using the digital audio out on the tv and hear a clicking or popping,I have seen this before on philips.sadly as usual with philips there is no cure for an inherent design fault

thx for the reply!

i am not using the digital out. to describe the sound a little further, it reminds of the static sound a tv makes when you are watching "snow". Sometimes it stops, but lately it has remained constant.

is it possible to open it up and disconnect the wires that lead to the speaker?
