Akai PT4298 Can't Post

My Akai PT4298 started acting up. Picture transitions to green, and then goes dark. After a few seconds it slowly changes back to normal. But a short time later this process starts over.
I unplugged the set for a few hours, and turned it back on for a few more hours and it seems fine now. But I am concerned.. I can’t really afford to have it repaired due to recent divorce..

Any ideas?

SVC Model PT4298HDX/SMS
Serial # 39ZWB51010H
Thanks in advance!

Ok.. Well, it worked ok for a week, but started acting up again.. This time it seems worse. Screen turns green and then turns very dark... Tried unplugging the set again, but it's not helping this time..
I could really use some good advice on how to fix this.. I can't afford to have a Pro come out and fix it. Child support is killing me! Unsure

I thought Akai went out of business some time ago. you really need a local tech 's help for this as it could be lots of things causing this. such as green drive fault or crt .try resoldering all the joints on the green crt base first. if the problem is heat related then invest in a can of freezer spray and try cooling things when the fault is there to see if it dissappears for a while.

Re: [techchris] Akai PT4298 [In reply to] Can't Post

Hey.. Thanks for the tip.. I can tell you that this problem now starts as soon as I turn on the set. So I'm thinking heat may not be an issue.. unless this lead to the problem.
I know this would be tough to troubleshoot online, but having a Tech come out is out of the question.. I recently was forced to take a huge pay cut due to the auto business doing so bad... and on top of my child support, I end up with no spare cash.. But as long as my kids are takin' care of.. I'm cool with it.
Just hoping it could be a simple part replacement..
