Antenae HELP! Can't Post

I have an outdoor antennae on top of my house, and it gets average reception- abc, fox, cbs, but alot of the time we have ghosts and snow. And we only get nbc late at nite. Are there any cheap ways to boost antenae coverage? If I do need another amplifier, which one would you recommend?

The antenae is very old, so Which outdoor antenae would you recommend if it had to be replaced? Thanks in advance

Cheers, James.

James, outdoor antenna equipment is expensive to buy and hard as hell to find anybody that still does that kind of work, channelmaster equipment works relatively well, the question is what`s causing the weak reception? First thing to do is replace your lead in cable if it`s more than 2-3 years old, you`ll probably find the connection at the antenna mast all corroded. If that doesn`t do the trick then replace the pre-amp/power supply, you have to buy both they do not sell them seperately, buy as high a gain amp as you can afford because that`s the part of the system that boosts the signal from the antenna to your set, the higher the gain of course means the more it costs, if the antenna has bent or missing elements that will also cause ghosting or snowy picture and the antenna will have to be replaced, do not try straightening bent elements they will just break off making your reception worse, be prepared for sticker shocj when you call the supply houses, as I said this equipment is not cheap, good luck, Larry E
