ok re confirmed all 3 tubes are glowing (orange) still sounds like it's coming from the splitter. the cackling from the back sounds more like stuff charging up. the 2 leads on the bottom of the splitter base are grounds, it's an aluminum looking plate with one lead going up inside the the bottom end of the splitter (bottom "filled with plastic resin"). it's a small plate press formed and fits the once corner of the plastic/resin base of the splitter.

I'm still alive I was just in a coma after the shock i got from that fly.... okay okay maybe that isn't funny I assure you I'm safe and sound and take care not jolt my self.

So I have let the Tv project sit for a while but, have been thinking about again. I have power to the mail 3 CRTs and no sound or picture that means the problem is from the signal or even convergence boards? not sure if the convergences is needed for picture but, i know it isn't needed for sound.

so guess some things to check would things like weather or not there is power to the signal boards and convergence or if they have the correct amount of power.

perhaps the connectors to the signal boards need reseated or perhaps the signals boards have a cold solder joint, i could re flow the solder possibly not sure if that works with through hole mounting like it does BGA. although the signal boards do have surface mount chips though not BGA.

At some point i plan to return to this project. I have "dead set" trouble shooting PDF for this chassis/model.

BTW, when the building i had this sitting was vacated i left it behind to be bulldozed with building for the piece of crap it was. I understand it was actually taken for scrap/recycling. It must have been hit by lighting or something.
