Mitsubishi VS-45609 Can't Post

Hello,
New to forum. Hoping for some direction. Have tv as listed. Picture is snowy as if no reception on all channels. VCR does not input to TV. Front input jacks and S-video work. Checked cabling with known good cables.Checked cable jack as well. All OK. TV had been working flawlessly previous.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Pat

Normaly we dont give the secret codes out over the internet, people tend to change crap around in the service menus and screw sets up real bad. But it sound like your set needs a kick in the brain so here goes,,, with the original Mits remote hit the "menu" button followed fast with 0-1-7-0 this will bring up a screen where the first option already highlighted is "Initsulize" if highlighted hit enter on the remote. this may or may not fix the set

Thanks Mike.
Gave it a whirl last evening. No changes. Acts like cable is disconnected. I did verify cable and cable jack with known good cable an TV. If there's anything else I could try, I'd appreciate it. My email is psalsano@msn.com.
Thanks again,
Pat

Pat,
It sounds like you've lost the 32v to the tuners. This would be a power supply problem.

Is there a test point where this can be measured?
Thanks

You can check pin #1 of connector "KB" which is the 32v output from the power supply or check at pin BTL on the tuners themselves, this chassis has two tuners.

OK. It's been a while since I last responded. Finally had some time to look further. I found visually blown diode D746 on signal board. Does anyone have spec for replacement component? How about replacement/refurbished boards? Last question, has anyone come across this before?
Thanks to all,
Pat

Pat,
D746 is a 5.6 volt .5 watt zener diode. Should be available at most electronics supply houses or try Radio Shack. Did you check the 32 volts at the tuners?

Onetech,
Thanks for the diode info. I have not checked yet. Can I check with signal board removed at KB connector? Or will that do possible further damage to power supply.
Thanks again,
Pat

I'm not sure if the power supply will startup with the signal board disconnected. Better have it connected as this would give you an accurate reading of the voltages.

One tech,
Having some trouble locating diode. Would you know the current rating?
Thanks,
psalz

Re: [psalz] Mitsubishi VS-45609 [In reply to] Can't Post

psalz,
Zener diodes are rated by voltage and power.
The diode in question is rated @ 5.6 volts .5 watts ( this would be .09 amp.)
The generic number for the diode is 1N4734A
an NTE/ECG #136A
The Mitsubishi part number is 264P461050 (this is a replacement for the original 264P484040)
This is available from Digikey on the web for about $6.00 with shipping (the actual part is less than a dollar)
Also check the 32v to the tuners.
Hope this helps.
