I have a 60 inch Sony rear projection TV and just the other day i had Sony replace the lamp case cover because it warped. Then the next couple of days I noticed in the left hand corner a light blue color and in the middle of the screen there are blue stars. It first started out with 1 dozen stars and now there are more than 4 dozen stars. Is this an optic block issue. Does anyone know how much a new optic block cost and if they are easy to install or does someone who knows what they are doing install it. If this was your tv and you wanted to get rid of it as is what is a good price to sell it for. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Yes: bad light engine, contact sony quickly, they had a recall on these and were replacing the light engines under warranty for everyone, but ends very soon.
Thanks Zip, can you tell me is the engine light the same thing as the optic block. If so Sony had the extended warranty until June 2008. They are no longer covering it no matter what you do. I wrote letters to Sony and they offered me a discount on a new TV. I really hate sony. This is a great TV. If you were to sell it as is what do you think you could get for it. How much is an optic block and how hard to install.
