Sylvania Projection TV Can't Post

I have recently received an older model Sylvania Projection TV and have questions about it. I plugged a VCR into the coax jack and sound came through wonderfully, but the picture is lacking to say the least. I can see blobs of color where I know the subjects are but they are unfocused and very chromatic. I wanted to perhaps get some ideas before I call a costly repair person to charge $60 to say its worthless. Is this just a focus problem or something more serious? If anyone can lend some advice, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Have you tried another source through the coax jack such as cabel? Perhaps this is just a problem with the VCR and not the television. What about plugging something into the RCA jacks on the TV, does that work?

Thx for the suggestion. I have tried both coax and rca with different sources (Cable, and VCR on both) and the output's the same; bright, colorful, out-of-focus blobs on the screen. Any other ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thx again Bursma.

So if your RCA jacks on the TV come to the same effect as the coax, then this isn't an issue of the tuner. You are also getting sound on the RCA jacks, right? These blobs you're talking about, are they in one area of the screen or do they move around?

Yes, there is sound in both. The blobs do move, I can see the subject, of sorts, in the blobs, but they are highly chromatic and well just blobs. I was guess that it's in need of focusing, but I'm worried there's more to it. Any suggestions on focusing procedures or manuals to try to get some semblence of focus?

I would guess there is just a problem with the CRT if the blobs are moving around, but I am just guessing.
