Toshiba 50H81 Convergence Can't Post

Toshiba 50H81

Been reading some old posts about replacing the convergence IC's for my RPTV...Yes my blues and reds are not where they should be and I get the touch focus error. My question is...are there only two IC's to change or are there two for each color. In other words two for red two for green and two for blue. I also read that replacing my skt392-110 with an skt392-150 is a good idea. The work seems fairly straight forward. I'm just trying to figure out what to order without taking my tv apart first.

Cool

First off it's "STK" (Not skt).
Each IC has three amplifiers inside. You will need two of them. I've always believed: "Put in what you take out," but you're the NBTW (Nut Behind The Wheel):

While IC's are out check the 1 & 2 watt resistors near them.

So to be clear...put back in the -110 IC's? Thanx for the reply. Now at least I can go and order some parts and maybe be able to start my repair next weekend. By the way, you don't by chance know a part number for those resistors you mentioned do you? Might as well order and replace those at the same time!

(2) STK392-110 convergence ICs

(6) 1.8 ohm 1 watt metal film resistors for R7711, R7716, R7721, R7726, R7731 and R7736

Put in NEW STK392-110'sAngelic
NOT ALL resistors will be BAD. These will work - couldn't find 1 watt.

Got my parts. I desoldered the IC's and heat sinks last night. I will try to put in the new ones tonight. When replacing this type of part and the resistors is it proper to solder it in place and then trim off the excess contact that sticks through the board?

Clean old heat transfer compound off heat sink. After making sure IC pins are straight, apply a THIN even layer of fresh compound and install IC, securing it to heat sink and double checking that each hole has only one pin. Solder and trim off excess. Look at other leads in the same area to see how much is "usual."
Resistors: with the PC board upside down, if possible, just put in place allowing them to stand off the board the same amount as the original, solder and trim if needed.

My TV is fixed! Thank you so much for the replys and the advice. It really wasn't as big of a job as I thought it would be. Now I guess it is on to the next project!

Any chance you can link the posts that brought you to this conclusion? I believe I have a similiar problem and would like to further my research.

Try this...

If that doesn't work for you, go to the projection tv forum and typ in 50H81 convergence. Good luck. If I can help just ask.

Re: [jts1957] Toshiba 50H81 Convergence [In reply to] Can't Post

I had the problem with extreme distorted picture on a Toshiba 50H81. Replaced the two STK 392-110 chips and the problem was solved. Now have a good picture. BUT >>>> now the remote control will not work the TV. The manual controls at the TV do operate normally. I must confess that I inadvertantly connected the four pin connector for the speakers to the unused 4 pin socket on the main board. Believe that socket was probably used for testing at the factory. It is now connected at the right place.
Could this error have caused damage to some componants that is now preventing the remote from working?

Really need the remote for convergence and other setup parameters.

Does anyone know where to get a schematic of the signal board?
