panasonic tv CT-27D11E Can't Post

i want to get into service menu but the sequence of steps calls for a press on the tv action button. the problem is the power button on the tv is the only one that works all others don't respond. pulled out circut board and pushed on buttons that didn't work. tryed a little piece of wire on underside of circut board from solder point to solder point that didn't work. the remote works everything though. the reason i want to get into service mode is to see if i can raise the level of the white's in the picture. any thought's on this mystery?

Quick Entry to Serviceman Mode:
At times when minor adjustments need to be done to the electronic controls, the method of Entering the
serviceman Mode without removal of the cabinet back is as follows using the Remote Control:
1. Select SET-UP icon and select CABLE mode.
2. Select TIMER icon and set SLEEP time for 30 Min.
3. Press ACTION button 3 times to exit menus.
4. Tune to the Channel 124.
5. Adjust VOLUME to minimum (0).
6. Press the VOL button (decrease) on Receiver. Red “CHK” appears in upper corner.
7. Press the Power Button on the Remote Control to select one of seven Serviceman Adjustment Modes.
1) B= Serviceman VCJ SUB-DATA ADJUSTEMENT.
2) C= Serviceman VCJ CUT-OFF ADJUSTMENT.
3) D= Serviceman PIN CUSHION ADJUSTMENT.
4) M= Serviceman MTS ADJUSTMENTS.
5) P= Serviceman PIP ADJUSTMENT. (Models with PIP only)
6) S= Serviceman OPTIONS ADJUSTMENTS.
7) X = Serviceman COMB FILTER ADJUSTMENT.
8) “CHK” = Normal operation of CHANNEL and VOLUME .

Exiting the Serviceman Mode:
Press the Action and the Power buttons on the Receiver simultaneously for at least 2 seconds.
THE RECEIVER EXITS SERVICEMAN MODE.
The Receiver momentarily shuts off; then comes back on tuned to channel 3 with a preset level of sound.
Any programmed channels, channels caption data and some others user defined settings will be erased.
To toggle between Aging and Serviceman modes:
While the “CHK” is displayed on the left top corner of the CRT, pressing the Action and the Volume Up buttons
on the Receiver simultaneously will toggle between the modes. Red “CHK” for Serviceman and yellow “CHK” for Aging.

dumpster;....

Before you go into the service menu & possibly permanently destroy your TV , you might want to take a look in your customer menu for "Parental Control" ...
Chances are that that is what could be disableing the all front panel pushbuttons except power....
IF so you need to turn the Parental Control off....
You "may" need a password to enter that to turn it off....
IF so , post back & we'll get you a code to get in....
In the customer menu , does your picture, brightness , color & tint features work normally ????...

thank's for both replies. checked parental control but it does't have that it has lock . everything is open as far as i can see. send me the codes to get in and i'll try them. i'm using a rca 300e universal remote it has no action button. i press menu on remote what comes up is audio- video- setup- timer - and lock. i highlight lock and press the menu button again and it opens. choiches here shows a space where a code can be entered. in the other catagories you press chanel to scrol up and down and volume to choose or move right or increas. in lock catagory pressing on these does nothing all the others respond. this must be the parental control type setting your talking about. the remote control work's everything.

I need a yes or no or don't know to this question.....

Quote
In the customer menu , does your picture, brightness , color & tint features work normally ????...

In other words , can you adjust them ???

Parental Control & Parental Lock are basically the same thing & do the same functions....(Usually)....
The link below is for the owners manual for your TV....

http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/CT27D11E.PDF

On page 21 , it tells you how to use the Lock....
Oftentimes in some manufacturers manuals there was a "hidden" part how to bypass the lock code & reset it....
Not here....
What Panasonic did was to include a separate little manual with the info in it....
It's called;..."V-Chip Parental Lock manual".....& is provided with the set when it's new....
I'm having fun trying to locate a copy for you , so give me some time & I'll see if I can find one....

jts1957;....

Far as I can tell , (From the info in his last post) he does NOT have a problem with the remote itself OR the functions the remote controls....

So a remote manual OR a new remote is not going to help at this time....

What I need to find is that stupid little manual/pamphlet that Panasonic calls "V-Chip Parental Lock manual" & download or copy it....
Not sure it holds the answer either....Unsure....

I've emailed Panasonic Tech support & am waiting for a reply...
Most likely Mon or Tues....

THANK you VERY much for your help.....Smile....

V-Chip here. At the end of this manual. Appears to be a detailed version of operating instructions procedure, but no code or keyboard lock that I saw.

I DON'T CARE! Check page #50 to the end. In three languages yet. I assume these were handed out with a lot of that line of sets.

Also note: if chassis "family" number is the same (NA8), most info is the same, regardless of model number.

I'm WELL aware of that fact....& I agree....
But , your user manual does NOT show a "NA8" (MOST don't) nor any similar model number that could be construed to be close to CT-27D11 other than "CT-27xx11.!!!!....Unsure....
So I had my doubts....SORRRRY !!!!...Unsure....
But based on your expertise , I believe that the manual IS for a "NA8" chassis....

"This simplified service manual is issued to add listed models to the main service manual order No. MTNC000417C1 (CT-27D10B). A set of unique schematics and a complete parts list are included in this simplified manual. Alignment procedures, additional squematics, dissasembly procedures are available for 27” models in simplified order No. MTNC010201A1 (CT-27D11E) and for 32” and 36” models in simplified order No. MTNC010305A1 (CT-32D11E)." {Cut & paste - Any misspellings are on Panasonic.}

This is as close as you're going to get (Simplified Service Manual ORDER NO. MTNC020204A1 - covers 18 models). Searching my sources by model or order number yields nothing. I MAY have downstairs in my paper manual collection.

The service manual I downloaded for CT-27D10B shows on the 1st page;....Main Manual for "NA8"....
It also shows the chassis number as "AP338"....
With this number , "MTNC000417C1" , in the top right corner....

Since I agreed that we have a NA8/AP338 chassis , why are we continuing on with this line of action ????
There's NO need for you to search your paper manual collection...
Altho , I APPRECIATE your efforts....THANK you....Sly....

Try to reset the TV. Turn the TV ON. Press and hold the ACTION and POWER buttons on the TV for more than 5 seconds. Self-Check will display. Turn the TV OFF then unplug for about 1 minute.
We hope this information is useful to you.

dumpster , you can try this just for drill , but IF the "Action" button is NOT working , I doubt it will work....
Good Luck....Sly...
Also go to "Parental Lock & enter "0 0 0 0" for the code...
See if that works & you get access....
IF you do unlock EVERYTHING. & exit.......
IF that works , try the front panel buttons & see if they are working....
Post results...

My reply today to Panasonic is;=>...

Dear Person;...
1st;....THANK you VERY much for your help....
We can not do this proceedure because the vol up & down , chan up & down and the "action" buttons on the set are disabled for some reason...
I suspect that there is a "Child Lock" feature of some sort involved here which I think is in the "Parental Lock".......
Which is why I need to find a way to bypass the "Parental Lock" code...
I need to get into that part & turn off the Parental Lock...
I suspect that that is why the front panel buttons are disabled....
That or someone has gone into & tinkered with the Factory Menu in some way....
IF it IS in the Factory Menu , can you PLEASE advise what to adjust ????...
Again , THANK you VERY much for your help....

As soon as I hear back from them I'll let you know....

the quote written in blue WORKED . the check screen poped up and sound memory etc. all had an ok next to them. unpluged it waited one minute turned on and pressed channel button it worked pressed action it works the only button that won't respond is the down volume . but that's not needed to get into service menu. tomorrow i put tv in room and proceed to try and get more white in the picture. seen some instruction's on www.riddletv.com and other site's. unless you want to add individual adjustment procedure's for this . i remember reading that ther is a sub contrast adjustment. any way i will definetly keep you informed until tis post is closed.

wow ! i read thru the schematics download. i noticed at the adjustment for the sub contrast it stated do not try to adjust this it is factory set. i guess i'll leave it the way it is. this might be out of my league any how. i'll be visiting schematics for free.com it's a nice site thank's to you guy's.maybe i'll ceck on some number's from the default setting's just of curiosity. doubt if i'll try to change anything. do you agree with me to leave the contrast the way it is.
