DaveMN;... You will have to remove the front screen to confirm & verify a coolant problem.. In the pix above , ignore the red circles... Underneath the screen is a panel that covers the speakers.. Grab on one side & gently but firmly pull that side off.. Do the same to the other side... Use care so as to not break the panel... Along the bottom edge of the screen on the face of the lower section , you should see 3 or 4 screws that hold the screen in place.. They are 1/4" hex head screws.. (On some versions , they are phillips head screws).. IF you go ahead with the coolant change , I'd suggest you purchase a 1/4" nutdriver with a magnetic end.. You will understand later IF you go ahead.. Remove the screws.. Now , your screen will come off in 1 of 2 ways.. In the pix above , you have the pushbuttons for power , chan up/down & vol up/down in the green circle... You MUST use care when removing the screen so you do not break that little panel that's on the inside of the screen.. IF YOU BREAK THAT PANEL , YOU ARE DEAD IN THE WATER !!!! That TV is about 9-10 years old & those panels are NLA..(I think !!!).. #1;... Try grabbing the bottom left & right sides of the screen & swing it away from the set 2~4".. If this is the way that screen comes off , use CARE not to pull it too far as there is not much slack in the wiring going to the pushbutton panel.. Pull it out as far as it will safely go & then lift the screen straight up.. As you do that , turn the screen 90* around & safely stand it up against the TV.. #2... Try grabbing the bottom left & right sides of the screen & carefully push the screen straight up.. It will only go so far so do not force it.. Then pull the screen away from the TV , again , use CARE not to pull it too far as there is not much slack in the wiring going to the pushbutton panel.. As you do that , turn the screen 90* around & safely stand it up against the TV.. IF your screen is in one piece , hook the TV up to AC power & a video source & turn it on... Inside the cavity you'll see 3 lens assemblies.. One red , one green & one blue... You'll need to take a looksee directly into the lens.. USE CARE when you do this as your eyes need to adjust to the possibly bright light that may be coming out thru the lens.. Start with the red CRT.. Take a look at the red CRT screen.. Usually the red coolant does NOT have a problem , so the image on the CRT face should be clear & IN focus... Then check out the green CRT face.. That one usually will be VERY cloudy & have a piss poor image on the CRT face... Then look at the blue CRT face... That one usually is the worst one... Having fun yet ??? OK , IF the red CRT is clear & the green & blue CRTs are cloudy , you have a coolant problem ... Please post results when you have a chance.. Happy Thanksgiving..
